Artist Statement
As a furniture builder and designer I feel that it is my duty to respect the materials I am using. for this reason I try to bring out the beauty out of each piece of wood that I use. often I am mimicking forms that I found in the wilderness in which I exist or in the grain of the wood I am starting with. I find this often leads to a cohesive finished product.

when I am designing a piece of furniture I am attempting to create an original idea an expression of my own vision of beauty. each piece is an attempt to reach out and touch that I see present in the forests of my home, southern Michigan. though I know there isn’t a creation of human kind that could ever reach the beauty of even the simplest tree.
